We still come back to that excellent Entr’acte LP which we stocked here some time ago, and it was made clear at that point, that Dale Cornish is of a degree of producers who take no prisoners, not afraid to reduce their work to the starkest of frosted soundbites and guttural ambiences. After more stellar showcases of skill for Where To Now and The Wormhole, ‘Cut Sleeve’ comes clean with the most reduced of grime and instrumental rap styles, straight from the freezer section into the auxiliary channel.
Kicking off with a sonically (but not factually) manipulated vocal disclaimer ‘In 2016 it is illegal to be gay in approximately 75 nations and regions around the world’ Cut Sleeve points out sad statistics and attitudes towards the LGBT community in our ‘modern’ world, followed by a subdued, yet poignantly effective slew of rhythms and ambiences that remain fearlessly exposed throughout the course of this quickfire album.
